April Foodie Highlights

Anyone else eat their body weight in chocolate this month or was that just me?...

My April foodie highlights:

Charbonnel et Walker Afternoon Tea, May Fair Kitchen

I am not usually a fan of afternoon tea, I'd rather eat a burger than a finger sandwich BUT this was the best one ever. Bruschetta instead of sandwiches, chocolate and orange scones instead of fruit ones and a selection of Charbonnel truffles and treats. Hands down the best afternoon tea I have ever had. It's only available until June so be quick!

Breakfast outside

The sun made an appearance for the only time this year which meant breakfast in the garden and some very burnt shoulders.

Discovering the General Store, Peckham Rye

This just might be the coolest shop in Peckham Rye. Local groceries and the best cup of coffee. Grab a cup and perch outside or stroll to the park with a book.

The Schoolhouse, Battersea

If you are ever in Battersea or Clapham, get this place on your list. The new cocktail menu is a great one with fun, inventive and delicious cocktails. TIP: get the gin one with the syringe, we had hours of fun.

Padella, London Bridge

ALL of the carby fun. Read about it here

Brew by Numbers/Salty Loins, Bermondsey

Good beer has to be accompanied with something naughty, cue Salty Loins. It's dipped pork in a sandwich served with gravy and chips. Sounds weird, tastes delicious.

Toasted, East Dulwich.
No hangover can be treated without bacon. Toasted in East Dulwich win at cures.

Dirty Bones, Soho
Carbs on carbs, cheese on cheese. Read about it here.

The Bull on Bell Street, Henley
After jumping over ten foot walls and crawling under barbed wire, cider and pizza had to be done. Sourdough base and plenty of salami.

Dirty Bones, Soho

Dirty Bones has just opened up its newest place in Soho, and to celebrate they are offering 50% off all food this week for its soft launch period. They are ironing out all those kinks so don't get hangry and shout at them if you are waiting around, they are doing the best they can.

Anyway, 2 things: truffle tries and the mac daddy burger. Get them. Carbs on carbs and cheese on cheese. Then wash it down with a gin cocktail.

I am carb loading - hence the burger topped with pasta. Clever, see.

It would also be a nice date place, it's good lighting, the music is class and if he still fancies you with mac & cheese in your hair and running down your arm, you're on to a winner... luckily my date, Sophie, didn't judge me.

50% off runs until the 28th, so hop over to get your dirty fix.

Padella, London Bridge

I have a long, long list of places I want to eat at in London. Padella was firmly at the top of that list after stalking them on Instagram a million times. Now that one of my fave foodies, Sophie, has moved to London, what better way to celebrate than with wine and allllll of the carbs?

I've said this before, but if you're after some top notch grub in London, be prepared to queue. We had to wait an hour and a half but it's fine, there are plenty of pubs around and you will forget all about that waiting time once you're in.

You know it's going to be a cracking meal when the queue is spiralling around the corner and the smell of garlic hits you in the face every time the door swings open.

We went for sourdough and the gnocci with buttery sage to start, followed by the fettuccine with fennel sausage ragu for myself and Fi and the tagliarini with nettles, parmesan and egg yolk for Soph. Pasta as soft as butter and smothered in Parmesan, you can't beat it.

carbs on carbs on carbs. Just how I like it.

It was honestly out of this world. The best pasta ever and I have been raving about it to anyone who will listen ever since.

TIP: go early, order everything, thank me later.

March Foodie Highlights

March was a fairly quiet affair and mainly consisted of salad and protein with a side of salad and protein. Tough Mudder training, see! But you can't be healthy all the time....

These are my March foodie highlights:

The Pregnant Man, Chancery Lane
We had meetings over in Chancery Lane where someone mentioned they had prosecco on tap in the pub. It would be rude not too...the pizza's here were also incredible, I would highly recommend the aubergine one.

Monmouth Coffee on Monmouth Street
Believe the hype. This is one of the best cups of coffee you will have in London.

Flat Iron, Covent Garden
My monthly visit to Flat Iron was as amazing as ever. The queue was 2 hours but it's worth every second for that creamed spinach and chip shop chips.

Breakfast being acceptable for lunch and dinner
As you know I am the biggest fan of breakfast and tend to eat it for most of my meals. I love how easy it is to whip up the most delicious plate in less than 15 mins.

I visited Paris and had the most amazing time. Read about it here.

Godiva, Covent Garden
I was taking a stroll through Covent Garden one evening and stumbled across this beauty. The chocolatiers were decorating it in the street and it was incredible to watch. Roll on Easter!

Peckham Refreshment Rooms
I discovered this gem in Peckham Rye. Strong, delicious coffee and a cracking brunch menu.

Coffee and Welsh cakes at Langland Brasserie
As much as I love London, I adore coming home and heading to the beach. This is one of the best spots for people watching and having coffee and cake.

Bread Ahead
You can find this little gem in Seven Dials, it's just down the road from Monmouth Coffee so you can grab a coffee and doughnut and explore the gorgeous cobbled streets.

The fanciest of date nights are had at STK. The place is oozing with coolness from the dimmed pink lighting to the best mini burgers you will ever experience. Read about it here.

The weather is getting warmer and I am in search of the best London rooftop bars and beer gardens, Tweet me your recommendations!

STK London

Payday falling on a Friday = FriYay

What better way to celebrate than with fancy pants cocktails and steak?

Covent Garden is one of my favourite places in London. It’s always buzzing and there are restaurants and bars aplenty. This weekend I shimmied over to STK on the strand in Me Hotel London and welcomed a gin cocktail with open arms.

If/when you go I would highly recommend the teeny wagyu, truffle, beef burgers, it’s truffley heaven in a mouthful.

And make sure you order alllll of the sides. We did mac & cheese, fries, creamed spinach, truffle fries and pepper sauce to accompany our fillet steak. You won’t be able to finish it all but you sure can give it your best shot. Their wine list is also pretty impressive, we went with a smooth bottle of USA red that went down a bit too well.

If you’ve got room, it’s definitely worth giving the chocolate fudge cake with ice cream a whirl.

Once sufficiently stuffed, you can snuggle up by the bar, sip on espresso martinis and tap your stilettos to the absolute tunes that the DJ plays.

STK London has been the best night I have had in a while and I can see how this is one of the hottest places to go on a Friday night.

Crab slider anyone?
